U.S. Fire Weather Strategy

Wildfires have become more prevalent in the United States, particularly in western states such as California, Oregon, and Washington. Factors such as drought, high temperatures, and a buildup of dry vegetation have contributed to an increase in the frequency and severity of wildfires. And climate change has made wildfires more frequent and more severe.

We helped create a fire weather strategy for a U.S. government satellite agency that plays a key role in the country’s efforts to “fight fires with science” – the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS).
